Yep, I know what you mean, Stella. Here in the U.S., it takes quite a lot to make sure you're eating clean, whole foods without pesticides, chemicals, etc. It also means trying to track down restaurants that serve the same, should you wish to go out for the occasional meal. And, of course, the FDA does not protect us in the way it would seem its charter (rules) dictate. Nor the USDA, with its weird "levels" for organic food.

Austria sounds great. Let me know when you've published your book(s).

CORRECTED:

I am a published author and free lance writer, with two more books almost ready to publish. They will include this very subject and many others.

Blame it all on Food manufacturers who probably "lobby" (a word that everyone knows really means nepotism, favoritism and plain old bribery) the FDA to allow their carcinogens to be in our food.

Kids have been eating lunch meat forever and when moms are busy, they just give them a sandwich. 99.9% of processed meats contain sodum nitrite and sodium nitrate.

For dozens of years, Colgate, Aquafresh, Crest, etc. have contained either Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate. I recently found out they ae carcinogens so I called the FDA and the Manufacturers. They responded there was no danger as long as the people did not "swallow" ANY smal amount of toothpaste. Then I said, tell that to the 65% of the population that ony has a high school degree and makes their 5 year olds and younger, brush their teeth with the same adult toothpaste. Tell the parents that they should NOT let their kids use that.

Campbells, Progresso and every other canned food, soup and vegetables manufacturer put outrageous amounts of salt in food.

Around the depression of 1929, people bought things every day, fresh, they grew their own vegetables, mostly ate without preservatives or excessive salt.

Small wonder that after years of indulging in processed meats we don't have an even higher amount of heart related deaths and more and more cancer deaths.

Yet, who governs or audits or polices what the FDA does? NOBODY! I ontacted the CDC and they agreed with me but they said they could do NOTHING! So, again, who polices the FDA so that they do not approve things that should be banned?

Titles of my next books: "If I were President"(TM) and "Ants cannot hear Thunder"(TM).

I have a company in the US and another in Austria. I am moving to Austria or Switzerland. In Austria the life expectancy is longer because of the rules governing Food vendors are stricter. Food processors, food manufacturers are strictly supervised, so people live longer. People eat more fresh vegetables and the water is cleaner without ANY chemicals, coming straight from the Alps.

Further, anywhere in Europe whenever you go to a Restaurant, if you ask for a glass of water, the ONLLY answer you get is "with or without?" Meaning they give you mineral water and they want to know whether you want it with or without gas. Here, they TAKE AWAY the minerals we need everyday and give us money cleaned with Chlorine or other chemicals instead of giving us natural water with natural minerals, for Pete's sake!
